Curriculum Structure for Junior Science
In Forms 1-3 each pupil studies 5 periods of Science per week (5 x 35 minutes). Each class has 1 teacher for all 5 classes and where possible we try maintain continuity of staff over the 3 years.
Our Key Stage 3 course follows the Northern Ireland National Curriculum requirements –a copy of which can be found here.
We focus on developing the pupil as a Scientist and teach How Science Works as well encouraging the development of Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities.
Our course is very wide ranging and covers topics such as ‘Earth and Space’, ‘Respiration’ and ‘Air and Water’. Each topic is rooted in either Biology, Chemistry or Physics allowing all the pupils to get a flavour of each individual subject thus helping to inform their GCSE choice.
